Governor: Gomel Economic Forum opens door for foreign business to the region

GOMEL, 20 May (BelTA) - Gomel Economic Forum is a landmark event in the business life of the region and opens the door for investors to the region, Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Dvornik said when addressing the forum, BelTA has learned.

Over the years the forum has grown into a large-scale international event. “All in all 67 documents worth more than $1.5 billion have been signed. Currently, two-thirds of them have been completed or are in progress,” Vladimir Dvornik noted.

Wide geography of participants of the forum this year shows the growing interest of foreign business to the region. This year the Gomel event welcomed participants from 28 countries from all continents. Alongside with regular partners from the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China and Italy, the forum is attended by delegations from Austria, Ireland, Kyrgyzstan, and Croatia. “The forum proves the maxim that human interaction and real business contacts are very important,” the Gomel Oblast head said.

Vladimir Dvornik is confident that the accumulated experience in business cooperation will find its constructive continuation. “Gomel Oblast has a serious social and economic potential on the back of Belarus’ political stability and flexible investment policy. Our business partners will be able to enjoy all the benefits that the Eurasian Economic Union brings,” he stressed.

This year’s business meeting in Gomel Oblast will be another step towards mutually beneficial partnership and will add an additional impetus to the development of every participating company and the Belarusian economy in general, the Gomel Oblast Governor said.
