The relevant proposal (in particular, to approve 2015 as the Year of Youth Tourism) was submitted for consideration taking into account that the year 2015 was announced the Year of Youth by the President’s decree and keeping in mind the number of international sport events slated for 2015 in Belarus.
Besides, this year Belarus will place a special emphasis on the development of medical and business tourism. The Healthcare Ministry and the Sport and Tourism Ministry have signed an agreement on cooperation in order to boost medical tourism. MICE tourism is another promising area for the country’s tourism industry. A good hotel base was developed in Minsk ahead of the 2014 IIHF World Championship, which should be used maximum efficient, the ministry believes.
Belarus also plans to continue developing caravanning and campsites. At present there are 23 campsites in Belarus, with 10 of them created in 2014.
This year the country plans to introduce amendments and additions to its law on tourism following the recommendations of the World Tourism Organization. The amendments will protect travelers from unfair market actors. The draft tourism development program for 2016-2020 will also be submitted for the government’s consideration.
