MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ first caravanning center has opened in Minsk District. The center is designed to develop and promote caravanning tourism, BelTA learnt from head of the Caravan Life center Maxim Drobyshevsky.
The new project incorporating a website, an online store and a forum is meant for caravaners, not-for-profit organizations and commercial companies involved in caravanning development regardless of their geographical location. “Our team seeks to unite caravaners, provide them with as much information as possible and offer assistance to NGOs. The website of the caravanning center will contain useful information that will be of interest to experienced and fledgling caravaners and those who think of travelling this way,” Maxim Drobyshevsky said.
The website of the caravanning center has already posted information about major gatherings and events related to caravanning, information about campsites, parking areas, interesting places, caravanning clubs and information about the sale and rentals of caravans and travel trailers. The online store offers various products for caravaners, hikers and lovers of outdoor activities. The forum provides a ground to share feelings, communicate with friends and like-minded people and find useful information.
“Last year we launched a project Caravan Tour: Globe of Belarus. As part of this project an international team of caravaners went on an exciting tour across Belarusian cities and historical places. The tour concluded with the international Bard Music and Fishing Festival. We plan to hold such tours every year and inform caravaners about them. This year we are thinking of a tourist route that was created in Mogilev. The tourist route is called “Myths and legends of the land of life-giving wells”. While on the road we will stop at local agro-tourism estates. Simultaneously we will try to encourage owners of these estates to create specialized stops for caravaners on their premises,” Maxim Drobyshevsky said.
In his words, caravanning has been gaining ground in Belarus. Several hundred people have embraced this kind of travelling. For them and for people who are going to join caravaners in the future, the caravanning center will become a communication ground and a place to implement joint projects. “Caravanning infrastructure should be created in Belarus. This type of tourism is very popular in the neighboring states and the European Union. Thousands of tourists travelling by car go through Belarus. The country can greatly benefit from it provided it offers the necessary conditions for caravaners, like specialized recreation areas and parking lots, and interesting routes,” Maxim Drobyshevsky believes.
