Yuri Nazarov appointed Belarus’ deputy prime minister

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – Yuri Nazarov has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko took the corresponding personnel decision on 3 March, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he had instructed the head of the President’s Administration to discuss the matter with Yuri Nazarov. “Yesterday I was briefed on your talks and the issues you are concerned about,” the head of state said.

He stressed that a personal meeting with the president usually precedes the appointment to such responsible positions: “Our practice is as follows: when dealing with such issues, I invite people here, especially when it comes to the posts of such a level. I would like to answer the questions that you had outlined in the conversation with the head of the President’s Administration.”

According to the president, Yuri Nazarov will be in charge of the key and most important area for the country - a petrochemical complex. “I would like to ask you to get involved in the work in this area,” the head of state said.

Yuri Nazarov was born in Gorki, Mogilev Oblast in 1962. He graduated from the Kirov Belarusian Technological Institute and the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

In 1981-1982, he served as a laboratory assistant at the Kirov Belarusian Technological Institute.

In 1983-1988, Yuri Nazarov worked as a forester at Zubrovskoye Forestry, an engineer on protection of forest and hunting fauna, a chief forester of the Gorki Forestry.

In 1988-2001б he was acting director and director of the Gorki Forestry.

From 2001 to 2004, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Forestry at the Council of Ministers of Belarus.

Yuri Nazarov was appointed Deputy Forestry Minister of Belarus in 2004 and Deputy Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate in 2010.

In December 2013, Yuri Nazarov was appointed Chairman of the the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom.
