MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Chongqing University of China concluded an agreement on joint training of specialists in the IT sector, BelTA learned from the press service of the Education Ministry.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening friendship between Belarus and China, expanding cooperation between universities, training specialists for further social and economic development of the countries, exchange of the teaching staff and the development of the research activities. The universities will run bachelor’s and master’s degree courses, continue cooperation in the academic exchange of students. Teachers of the Grodno university will be the first to travel to Chongqing University.

According to Yanka Kupala University, such agreements provide a number of advantages to the university. First of all, the Grodno university has a fine opportunity to enhance its recognizability in the international education space, become more competitive in terms of quality and the range of education services, improve its world’s rankings and enter a qualitatively new level of cooperation with foreign organizations and universities.

The joint training of specialists in the sector of computer technologies was discussed during the visit of the delegation of Chongqing University to Yanka Kupala University of Grodno in November 2016. Then, representatives of the foreign partner-university and the university in Grodno coordinated the corresponding agreement.

Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Chongqing University enjoy strong friendship ties. The two educational institutions established official partnership on 1 February 2013 after a memorandum of understanding was signed to boost cooperation in the academic exchange of students on a parity basis. In June 2013 representatives of the Chinese university paid a visit to Yanka Kupala University to get familiar with the Belarusian educational establishment and consider ways to expand cooperation. In May 2014 the delegation of the Grodno university led by its rector visit Chongqing University. The parties discussed long-term mutually beneficial cooperation, including the joint training of specialists.

Over the past five years 13 students of the Grodno university received education in the Chinese university. Students from Chongqing University received a chance to learn Russian in Grodno.
