MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, and Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, signed a joint communique at the end of her official visit to Minsk on 25 October, BelTA has learned.

This was the final event in the program of the visit of the distinguished guest to Belarus. “This document sums up the results of the Minsk talks,” Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah told reporters. “Among other things, we agreed to step up cooperation in the economy, particularly, in the mining industry, agriculture, investments, the high-tech sector, education, and tourism. We also agreed to do our best to promote the contacts between the business circles of the two countries, between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries.”

In her words, Namibia is going to help Belarus promote its goods (machinery, mining equipment) on the market of Namibia, set up joint ventures to produce Belarusian agricultural equipment. Apart from that, the sides agreed to hold the first ministerial consultations on political issues in Namibia in 2017.

Vladimir Makei, in turn, said that the signed communique was a final and very positive event in the program of the official visit of the Namibian delegation. “Given the political, economic, financial situation in the world is changing very quickly, crises come after crises, we decided not to wait and act right now, not to lose time and to embark on cooperation immediately. The communique highlights the short-term prospects of our contacts,” the minister said. He assured that the Belarusian side will take concrete steps for the enhancement of interaction with Namibia in the near future.
