MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – The UK praises prospects of cooperation with Belarus, Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Alan Duncan said in an interview to the ONT TV channel on 1 October, BelTA has learned.

Alan Duncan noted that over 25 years of diplomatic relations Belarus and the UK have made a considerable progress in the development of bilateral cooperation. “I think the prospects are good. We would like them to be even better,” said Alan Duncan. He expressed hope that the two countries would be able to diversify the trade through the woodworking industry, the manufacturing sector and so on.

The Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office visited Belarus on 25-26 September. This was the first visit of the UK top ranking official to the country. Alan Duncan held talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei.
