MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – The UK embassy would like to see more British investors in Belarus and is doing its best to support this, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UK to Belarus Fionna Gibb said during a media breakfast event on 3 May, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat emphasized the importance of developing trade and economic ties with Belarus. The double taxation avoidance agreement which was recently signed between the two countries testifies to the fact.

Speaking about the development of investment cooperation, the ambassador said that investing is a serious step for British companies and it is a good sign that trade and economic contacts are developing between the companies of the two countries.

Fionna Gibb stressed that the Belarusian-British cooperation continues developing and there is a potential for more active contacts in the construction and timber processing sectors.

According to the diplomat, Belarus should be more active in promoting its economic interests in the UK. The ambassador added that Belarusian companies should be more active in advertising itself and advancing to international markets.
