MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – President of Turkmenistan
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has arrived in Minsk on a two-day official visit, BelTA has learned.According to the press service of the Belarusian President, on 8 October Alexander Lukashenko and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will hold official talks. After the negotiations the sides will sign a number of documents regarding bilateral cooperation in various industries.
After the events within the framework of the official visit Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will take part in the session of the CIS Heads of State Council in Minsk.
Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Turkmenistan were established on 21 January 1993. The countries maintain active political dialogue. Mutual visits at the highest level and meetings of the heads of state as part of international events have been held every year since 2009. In November 2013 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko paid an official visit to Turkmenistan.
Belarus exports a lot of goods with a high added value to Turkmenistan. These include tractors, freight vehicles, road, construction and agricultural equipment, bicycles, loaders, tires, medicines, products of the wood processing industry (furniture, chip boards, paper), foodstuffs (sugar, powdered milk, cheese, butter, alcohol, malt, confectionery). Belarus imports cotton yarn and fiber, textiles, wool, bed and table linen from Turkmenistan. Apart from that, Belarus and Turkmenistan implement a big investment project to build the Garlyk
