Turchin announces upcoming visit of Uzbekistan president to Belarus

Turchin announces upcoming visit of Uzbekistan president to Belarus

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin has announced that Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Belarus in 2026. He made the statement during a meeting of the Uzbek-Belarusian Business Council, BelTA has learned.

“Our countries are bound by longstanding ties of strong friendship. Belarusian-Uzbek partnership is multifaceted and is distinguished by its focus on achieving concrete results. Warm, trusting relations have developed between the heads of state and at the intergovernmental level. Inter-parliamentary and inter-regional cooperation is actively ongoing. This yields positive effects for collaboration at the level of business entities. Undoubtedly, trade and economic cooperation serves as the most crucial connection between us. The economies of our countries are complementary. Uzbekistan continues to be a vital trade partner for Belarus, firmly holding third place in terms of trade among CIS countries. In recent years, mutual trade has been steadily growing, and we are approaching the target of $1 billion set by the heads of our states. It is important not to rest on our achievements and to expand the forms of economic interaction,” Aleksandr Turchin said.

According to him, a visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus is planned for this year, and work is underway to determine the content of the visit. “I call on business circles to actively engage in shaping a broad economic agenda for bilateral cooperation,” the prime minister noted.

Aleksandr Turchin separately addressed the topic of cooperation. “In our contacts with Uzbek partners, we have long reached a clear understanding that the potential of trade is not limitless and that it is important to develop cooperation more intensively, interact more actively in the investment domain, and move towards significant projects to create joint productions where industrial cooperation holds a key place. This area makes a real contribution to ensuring the technological and financial sustainability of the economies of Belarus and Uzbekistan, and contributes to increasing tax revenues, which benefits both sides. Industry is our driver, however, we see significant reserves for further deepening ties in other areas as well: from agriculture, woodworking and pharmaceuticals to logistics, and interaction in finance and IT,” Aleksandr Turchin emphasized.

“Yesterday and today, numerous business negotiations have taken place between companies of our countries in a wide variety of areas. A substantial package of documents has been signed, which is a practical result of the hard and purposeful work of business circles. I am confident that today has brought forth many interesting ideas and promising proposals for cooperation and the implementation of joint projects. We are open to dialogue. If any decisions need to be made at the level of the Belarusian government, you can always count on our support,” the head of the Belarusian government concluded.

Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin is heading a government delegation on an official visit to Uzbekistan. On 24 February, the prime minister laid a wreath at the Independence Monument in Yangi Oʻzbekiston Park in Tashkent – a 60-meter stele crowned with an installation of the Huma bird, which is a symbol of peace, prosperity, and freedom.

Aleksandr Turchin also visited the production complex of OOO TEXNOPARK, located in Yashnobod District of the capital on the territory of the former aviation plant.

Additionally, the head of the Belarusian government visited the Termez international trade center.
