Talks on Serbia-Kosovo conflict held in Minsk

Talks on Serbia-Kosovo conflict held in Minsk

MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Talks to settle Serbia-Kosovo conflict have taken place in Minsk as part of the Munich Security Conference Core Group Meeting, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) Wolfgang Ischinger told a press conference on 1 November, BelTA informs.

He noted that the participants of the meeting in Minsk included Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Kosovo political leader Hashim Thaci. “Yesterday they discussed the need to continue the negotiation process in order to reach an agreement on the existing conflict,” the MSC chairman said.

In his words, this is not an easy task. “As a person directly involved in the Kosovo negotiation process, I understand how hard this issue can develop. It is very important that representatives of both parties addressed the international community for more active assistance in order to reach a final settlement of the conflict and mutual recognition,” said Wolfgang Ischinger.

The chairman of the Munich Security Conference stated that negotiations on the topic are held at the bilateral level with the participation of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, who has the UN mandate to assist negotiators.

“We are trying to do everything possible so that this negotiation process moves in the right direction,” added Wolfgang Ischinger.
