Sudan promised more Belarusian vehicles, tighter manufacturing cooperation

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian Industry Ministry is ready to sell more machines and vehicles to Sudan in addition to advancing manufacturing cooperation with the country, the ministry’s press service told BelTA.

Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik met with Abdel-Rahim Mohamed Hussein, Governor of the State of Khartoum, Sudan on 3 November. The negotiations focused on ways to advance cooperation, increase export, expand the presence of Belarusian machines, equipment, and vehicles on the Sudanese market. The establishment of enterprises to assemble Belarusian machines and vehicles in industrial zones in Khartoum was mentioned.

Dmitry Korchik said: “We are interested in advancing cooperation with Sudanese companies in various areas. Sudan has a very large market for Belarusian machines. The Industry Ministry is ready to export road construction machines, agricultural machines, mining machines, passenger vehicles, trucks, and other vehicles. The ministry is ready to step up mutual trade turnover and manufacturing cooperation. Sudan is also interesting for Belarusian companies as a springboard for reaching other African countries. With this in mind we are ready to set up assembly enterprises in Sudan.”

A memorandum of understanding between the Sudanese dealership MIG Agriculture and the Belarusian companies MTZ, MAZ, and Gomselmash was signed in September 2017 when Belarusian Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk visited Sudan. Work is in progress to implement the memorandum.

Khartoum is a powerful economic zone of Sudan. About 90% of all the Sudanese industrial enterprises are located in Khartoum. The province is home to a quarter of the country’s population. The volume and choice of products supplied by the Belarusian Industry Ministry to Sudan constantly expand. The products include MTZ tractors, Bobruiskagromash agricultural machines, MAZ vehicles, Gomselmash harvesters, and Lidselmash agricultural systems.
