MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - The Belarusian National Statistical Committee has presented a maiden report on the progress of Belarus' regions towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), BelTA has learned.
The report is based on the regional list of SDG indicators, which includes 137 indicators. Of these, 77 indicators are harmonized with the national SDG list, allowing for a direct link between regional successes and national goals. The remaining 60 indicators were drawn up taking into account the specific development characteristics of the regions, making the assessment objective and relevant for regions with varying economic structures and social sectors.
According to the assessment, the progress in achieving the SDGs is as follows: Minsk Oblast - 80.9%, Brest Oblast - 80.2%, Vitebsk Oblast - 79.2%, Gomel Oblast - 77.7%, Grodno Oblast - 77.1%, Mogilev Oblast - 76.9%, and the city of Minsk - 75.4%.
Evaluating SDG achievements at the regional level will allow for a more detailed analysis of the successes and challenges regions face within the context of national goals.
