Shestakov: Belarus prioritizes fostering relations with Argentina

MOSCOW, 9 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov held talks with Ambassador of Argentina to Russia Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieyra in Moscow on 9 April, BelTA has learned.

“We attach great importance to the development of our relations with Argentina. The presence of our embassy in Argentina for 25 years proves this. It was the first embassy we established in Latin America,” Yevgeny Shestakov said.

“We have high hopes for relations with your country,” Yevgeny Shestakov added, addressing the Argentine diplomat.

Speaking to journalists, Ambassador Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieyra shared that he has already received approval for his appointment as non-resident Ambassador to Belarus. Argentina is currently completing the necessary procedures.

According to the diplomat, his main focus in his future work in Belarus will be the development of trade and economic cooperation. He emphasized agricultural machinery building as a priority. “Then we will try to explore other areas that can potentially increase trade between our two countries,” he said. The ambassador added that these areas could include biotechnology and the IT sector.
