MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – Labor and Social Protection Minister of Belarus Marianna Shchetkina has suggested developing a single database of domestic aggressors. She put forward this proposal at the first OSCE Gender Equality Review Conference in Vienna on 11 July, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Austria.
Marianna Shchetkina was a lead speaker at the working session to discuss efforts to combat violence against women. She told the attendees about Belarus’ efforts to ensure equality between men and women, prevent domestic violence, provide assistance to violence victims, and improve the legal framework. She also unveiled Belarus’ major objectives for the mid-term and long-term perspectives.
Marianna Shchetkina emphasized the importance of work to combat domestic violence and suggested developing a single database of domestic violence victims and aggressors. She also suggested improving preventive efforts and training specialists who would help domestic violence victims.
The minister also emphasized the importance of exchanging best practices in combating violence against women and coordinating international efforts in this field.
