Russia's Chechnya, Abu Dhabi thanked for assistance in rescuing Belarusian citizen from Libya

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent the letters of gratitude to Head of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation Ramzan Kadyrov and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for their personal contributions and assistance in the release of Belarusian citizen Vyachesav Kachura who was forcibly held in Libya for many years, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Recalling our meeting in Minsk on 25 September 2017 and your promise to do your best to accelerate the release of the Belarusian citizen, I would like to thank you for your personal contribution to helping us bring Vyachesav Kachura back home. Your assistance in protecting the lives, health, and interests of compatriots abroad that are very important tasks for every president is a vivid example of the friendly brotherly ties between Belarus and Russia,” the Belarusian head of state said in his letter to Ramzan Kadyrov.

In the letter to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Alexander Lukashenko expressed sincere gratitude for assistance on behalf of Belarusian people and himself. “This act of good will of Your Highness is a bright example of commitment of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates to the values of humanism and justice. It deserves profound respect,” the president remarked.

“What you have done for our citizen is much more than just helping him restore his lost right to freedom. You gave him an opportunity to see his family and friends after many years of separation, you helped him regain confidence in the future,” the Belarusian leader said.

Alexander Lukashenko assured that Belarus is a reliable partner of the UAE and values the relations of friendship and trust between the two countries. “We will be always happy to give a helping hand to Emirati people if necessary,” the head of state added.

Vyachesav Kachura returned home on 2 February. He was the last of the Belarusian citizens who were forcibly held in Libya by one of the so-called revolutionary brigades since 2011.
