MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – Relations between Qatar and Belarus are built on a foundation of universal values, strong friendship and cooperation, Charge d’Affaires ad interim of Qatar in Belarus Hamoud Saleh Al-Saadi said in an interview with a BelTA correspondent on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day.
He noted that a ceremonial event was held in Minsk to mark the occasion. “18 December represents both a testament to dedication and a luminous example of the Qatari people’s unity and solidarity. This day marks our renewed commitment to a prosperous future, the safeguarding of our heritage, and our Arab identity under the wise leadership of Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,” the diplomat stated.
He went on saying: “The State of Qatar and the Republic of Belarus share many common values as responsible members of the international community. Along with a mutual interest in strengthening peace and security, the leadership of both countries is also committed to advancing economic and social development.”
The head of the diplomatic mission highlighted the achievements of Qatar at both the national and international levels. “Qatar has become one of the world’s leading nations, and today we are witnessing an unprecedented surge in development aligned with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Among the state’s achievements this year are the strengthening of its international standing in the Quality of Life Index, where it ranked eighth globally, and entering the top twenty countries in the global digital competitiveness ranking,” he continued. “The State of Qatar has earned worldwide respect not only for its outstanding domestic successes in human development, economic growth, and social progress, but also for its proactive diplomacy. Through numerous regional and international initiatives, Qatar works to establish more secure and equitable international relations and to protect the interests of peoples.”
“As part of its development policy and international cooperation strategy, the State of Qatar hosted the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha in November 2025, aimed at addressing poverty and promoting social inclusion to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. All these accomplishments have established Qatar as a country actively engaged in promoting peace and security, recognized for its outstanding and pioneering role in advancing international development and global partnerships,” he added.
The diplomat noted: “Qatari-Belarusian relations are built on shared cultural and universal values, on a foundation of strong friendship and cooperation grounded in mutual respect and trust. Our bilateral relations have gained significant momentum thanks to numerous high-level visits by officials from both countries, during which many agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed. This collaborative work continued throughout 2025. I would also like to highlight the successful visit of the prime minister of the Republic of Belarus to the State of Qatar in February, which helped strengthen bonds of friendship and advance political and economic ties. We aim to open new horizons in equally important areas such as tourism, culture, and sports. This is especially relevant given that our countries possess considerable potential and opportunities that serve the shared interests of our peoples.”
“We are confident that the launch of regular air service between Doha and Minsk will open broad prospects for tourism development,” concluded Hamoud Saleh Al-Saadi.
