Qatar shows interest in cooperation with Belarus’ University of Civil Protection

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) -  Qatar is showing interest in training its specialists from the Fire Fighting and Rescue Department at the University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the State of Qatar in Belarus Meshaal Al Attiyah said as he met with Deputy Emergencies Minister Andrei Yurzhits on 21 October, BelTA learned from official representative of the University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus Andrei Sadovsky.

“Belarus in turn expressed its willingness to cooperate through the UN International Advisory Group on Search and Rescue (INSARAG), as well as further implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Belarus and Qatar on cooperation in preventing and eliminating emergency situations and natural disasters. It is worth mentioning that the issues under discussion were aimed at further strengthening of the positive dialogue of bilateral cooperation and the development of further trust-based relationship between the emergency and rescue agencies of the countries,” Andrei Sadovsky said.

The delegation from Qatar got familiar with Belarus’ best practices in training specialists for foreign rescue agencies, visited the University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry and its branch, the Institute for Retraining and Professional Development, located in Borisov District.

The University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus established cooperation with Qatar in 2011. Over the period 49 Qatari nationals have been trained at the branch of the University of Civil Protection neat Borisov.
