Over 450 students, educators to receive grants from Belarus president’s special fund

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has approved the decision of the council of the Belarus president’s special fund to support talented students, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Scholarships or one-time grants will be awarded to 253 university students and winners of academic excellence competitions. Apart from that, 198 educators and scholars will be rewarded with bonuses for their contribution to nurturing talented youth.

Financial support will also be provided to student research laboratories Chemistry of Nano-Structured Systems of Belarusian State University and Ecotechnology of Belarusian State Technological University, as well as the student research bureau Alloy of Belarusian National Technical University.

“The president’s resolution is designed to provide targeted state support to students, scholars and educators with a view to creating a favorable environment for developing intellectual potential and creative skills of talented students,” the press service emphasized.

BelTA reported earlier that in line with another resolution of the council of the special fund, money and lapel badges will be granted to 12 winners of international academic excellence competitions. Eight more winners of international academic excellence competitions will receive prizes. Money will also be given to 665 winners of international and national contests.
