Over 200 samples of weapons, hardware commissioned by Belarusian army in 2025

Over 200 samples of weapons, hardware commissioned by Belarusian army in 2025

LEPEL DISTRICT, 4 November (BelTA) – 2025 saw the army commission over 200 samples of weapons, military hardware, and special hardware, BelTA learned from Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin during an educational seminar held for the army’s managerial personnel in Lepel District, Vitebsk Oblast.

Viktor Khrenin said: “In any academic year the degree, the level, and the direction of training of the Armed Forces always depend on the situation around the Republic of Belarus. Regretfully, the situation is not getting better. The tensions continue rising. We see it in actions of the leadership of the collective West, in the frantic militarization, in increased spending on military needs, on buying offensive weapons, particularly in neighboring countries. Their aggressive rhetoric towards us indicates that we need to take into account these conditions and adequately respond and train our Armed Forces.”

One of the accomplished tasks is the enhancement of the combat potential by increasing the combat component of the army. “It has been achieved primarily thanks to the optimization of normal activities, by means of setting up new units and enlarging the existing ones, by merging them with commands and army units, by optimizing the managerial staff. We’ve managed to accomplish a great deal in equipping our troops with modern weapon systems. This year we’ve commissioned over 200 various samples of weapons, military hardware, and special hardware. On the whole, this year the Armed Forces have received over 35,000 various samples of hardware and military technology,” the minister noted.

The staffing level of the Armed Forces has been significantly increased this year. “I can already boldly say that we have no problems with the availability of recruits. We also see that the attitude of young Belarusians to military service is changing. Due to the correction of errors within the framework of military and patriotic upbringing in recent years. We’ve achieved certain success in increasing the staffing level of officer personnel by launching an experiment last year and ending it by recruiting reserve lieutenants, who have finished military service specializations in civil universities. We have seen we’ve made the right choice. This is why another enlistment campaign is about to begin. By doing it, we increase training levels of reserve officers and fulfill the president’s instruction, who told us that everyone must serve in the Armed Forces. Young people, who are eligible for military service, will complete their active service and will get an appropriate military specialty,” Viktor Khrenin stressed.

The defense minister also remarked that they had managed to secure high indicators of training of military education resources by drafting over 16,000 people. The level of maintenance and repairs of hardware has been increased as well. A lot has been done to improve the level of comfort in military camps and enable comfortable conditions for military personnel.

“We’ve introduced new forms and methods of using troops in a bid to improve the combat training of our military personnel. On the whole, I’d like to say that the level of training of the Armed Forces has increased significantly over the past academic year. We’ve accomplished certain goals that we’d set out to achieve. I would also like to say that we don’t intend to rest on our accomplishments. Perfection knows no limits,” the minister is convinced.

The official pointed out that staffs and command bodies are now working on adopting a new plan of defense of the state. “We are finishing a five-year cycle. This year we are also finishing a five-year cycle within the framework of construction and development of the Armed Forces. A new plan for 2026-2030 is in development. We take into account the situation, conditions, and capabilities of our state. All of it will be incorporated into the training of the Armed Forces in the new academic year,” the Belarusian defense minister stressed.

Viktor Khrenin pointed out that the number of operational training events had increased due to an increase in the intensity of training of the troops. “The main ones were joint tabletop exercises of the operational command of the regional military force, military exercises held in the territory of our country within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Certainly, the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2025 was the key element of the training process. We summed up its results virtually last week. A good analysis of all the accomplished tasks has been prepared. I’d like to say that within the framework of the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine adopted during the Belarusian People’s Congress we’ve adjusted the system for training the government agencies at various stages of escalation, we’ve determined the sequence of their actions in the event of a sudden attack on our country,” the minister noted.

In the new academic year the Armed Forces will proceed bearing in mind the evolving situation. “Unfortunately, the leadership of our neighbors is unwilling to resolve problems by diplomatic means. One of the main factors that will discourage them from using military force will be the guarantee that we will use this force. Nobody should have any doubt that we have everything for it. The direction of the next year will keep appropriately the same pace that we’ve gained in the last few years. We will focus most of the efforts on developing reconnaissance systems, electronic warfare, unmanned aerial systems, the subsystems designed to counter them, counter-battery warfare, on the development of command and control systems, the introduction of new forms and methods in troop training, and on enhancing interaction and cooperation with the Russian Federation and friendly countries,” Viktor Khrenin said.

He pointed out that the army will do everything to preserve the peace and tranquility of citizens. “To achieve that, we should be a single whole and we should adapt to new conditions of the environment. This is why the next academic year in the Armed Forces will be the year of combat shakedown,” the minister concluded.

A seminar for senior personnel of Belarus’ Armed Forces took place in a military training area in Lepel District, Vitebsk Oblast on 4 November. The purpose of the seminar was to get the army officers to work out unified understanding of the sequence and methods of training functionaries of military command bodies and troops in the new academic year.
