Number of foreign students in Belarus up by 35% over five years

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - The number of foreign students in Belarus has increased by 35% in the past five years, BelTA learned from the Education Ministry of Belarus.

“We have been undertaking focused and consistent efforts to develop international cooperation. Belarusian educational institutions have signed 4,700 agreements with peers from 90 countries. We have expanded our reach into Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. Cooperation with China got a new impetus. The Year of Belarus' Education was successfully held in China in 2019," the Education Ministry  said.

About 26,000 foreign nationals from 107 countries were enrolled in the Belarusian education establishments in the 2019/2020 academic year. "Over the past five years, the number of foreign students rose by 35%. Young people are mostly from Turkmenistan, China, Russia," the ministry said.
