MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – The Minsk City Hall confirmed Anatoly Sivak as new Minsk mayor at a meeting on 26 November, BelTA has learned.

“I am sure that Minsk will receive a reliable leader who will do his best to add momentum to the development of the city and bring it to a high-quality level,” said Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova, introducing the new chairman of the Minsk City Hall.

In her words, Anatoly Sivak knows the Belarusian capital well, since he earlier served as the president’s aide, the inspector for Minsk. He is known to be highly responsible for the assigned tasks, for his ability to work with people, and integrity in decision making.

Natalya Kochanova also thanked former Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets for a significant contribution to the development of the city and wished him success and good luck on his new position.

According to the head of the Belarus President Administration, the key tasks set before the authorities of the Belarusian capital will include the need to raise efficiency of enterprises, a good organization of the 2nd European Games, further improvement of territories, landscaping, the creation of new jobs, the commissioning of unfinished facilities, and dealing with applications of citizens.
