‘New leap for SCO’. Heads of government sign package of documents

MOSCOW, 18 November (BelTA) - The meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in Moscow on 18 November, represents another leap forward in the SCO's development, SCO Deputy Secretary General Midhun T.R. told the media following the event.

The Belarusian delegation at the meeting was headed by Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin. “The meeting resulted in the adoption of documents such as a roadmap for cooperation among SCO states in social development for 2026-2028, a plan for implementing the concept of interaction among SCO member states' railway administrations, and others,” the SCO deputy secretary general said.

A protocol was also signed to allow annual contributions to the SCO budget to be paid in currencies other than the U.S. dollar.

The deputy secretary general noted that the meeting discussed measures for the comprehensive and gradual implementation of the SCO development strategy up to 2035. Significant attention was paid to expanding trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties, as well as issues of cooperation in digital economy, energy, the green agenda, artificial intelligence, science and innovation, education, culture, tourism, healthcare, sports, and youth contacts. The outcomes of the meeting are reflected in a signed joint communiqué.

“We did not just hold another meeting of the Council of Heads of Government. We made another leap forward in the SCO's development, reinforcing the unity of our views,” the deputy secretary general said.
