Multiple Belarusian healthcare institutions to study Russian COVID-19 vaccine after trials

Multiple Belarusian healthcare institutions to study Russian COVID-19 vaccine after trials

GOMEL, 4 September (BelTA) – The Russian coronavirus vaccine will be studied in several healthcare institutions in Belarus simultaneously, BelTA learned from the Healthcare Ministry’s Telegram channel.

The studies were discussed during negotiations of Belarusian Acting Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich and Russian Healthcare Minister Mikhail Murashko in Minsk. The sides agreed that clinical trials will be held in Belarus. The trials will be followed by studies in several healthcare institutions. The approach will reduce the time required to collect the necessary information in order to register the vaccine in Belarus.

The Belarusian and Russian healthcare ministries also intend to step up cooperation in pharmaceutics, including cooperation in various integration bodies such as the Union State of Belarus and Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union.

During the visit of the Russian government delegation led by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Belarus the sides confirmed the intention to continue implementing joint programs and projects in the sphere of healthcare within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The creation of common information space is one of the areas the sides may explore in the future.

In order to resume air service and other kinds of transportation between the two countries, the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) will continue consultations and sharing information about the COVID-19 epidemic situation.
