MPs intend to develop Belarusian-Armenian regional cooperation

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belarusian and Armenian MPs intend to develop regional cooperation, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk told the media on 24 September, BelTA has learned.

A delegation of the National Assembly of Armenia is on a visit in Belarus. The MPs are scheduled to hold meetings at the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and to visit a number of enterprises in Minsk and Brest. Regional cooperation will be high on the agenda of meetings in Brest. According to Boleslav Pirshtuk, the MPs intend to give careful consideration to the topic, study proposals and outline mutually beneficial areas. The vice speaker assured that the parties will manage to find new points of development of bilateral relations, including in agriculture, IT and other areas.

Boleslav Pirshtuk noted the fruitful work of Belarusian and Armenian MPs at international forums. “We fully understand each other and have a common position on many issues,” he stressed.

Eduard Sharmazanov, Vice President of the National Assembly of Armenia, also noted the special nature of the Belarusian-Armenian relations. He added that the MPs, for their part, should do their utmost to make the cooperation between Belarus and Armenia, who are allies in the EAEU and the CSTO, even more fruitful both in the international arena and in trade.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of humanitarian issues, including the patriotic education of young people, efforts to resist the attempts to distort the history of the Great Patriotic War.
