MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) - Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov held talks with President Daniel Chapo of Mozambique on 18 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The minister of foreign affairs delivered a personal message from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the Mozambican leader, extending an invitation to visit Belarus on an official visit. In addition, Mozambique’s president was informed of the high regard in which the Belarusian head of state holds the prospects for a comprehensive intensification of bilateral cooperation.
The invitation was gratefully accepted. Daniel Chapo instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to begin preparations for the visit and to develop its substantive agenda.
The parties discussed the current state of Belarusian-Mozambican dialogue, with particular emphasis on agricultural mechanization as a pilot project to ensure Mozambique’s food security, support for strengthening security and counter-terrorism efforts, the use of Mozambique’s logistics potential to ensure the supply of Belarusian goods to the region’s countries, the strengthening of Mozambique’s industrial sovereignty, and the implementation of a promising project for the production of blended fertilizers.
Belarus and Mozambique intend to prepare a package of bilateral documents for signing to intensify cross-sectoral cooperation, ranging from agriculture to education and healthcare.
The president of Mozambique has designated government officials responsible for coordinating cooperation with Belarus.
