Mogilev, Gorki, Shklov named as host cities of Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions in 2018

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – The fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be hosted by Mogilev, Gorki and Shklov on 26-28 September, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich told the media, BelTA has learned.

The forum will be held not only in Mogilev but also in Gorki and Shklov, Mikhail Myasnikovich said. According to him, a series of events will be held to enable the regions to participate not only at the regional level but also at the level of districts and cities, especially those that have twinning relations.

The Business Cooperation Council will be co-located with the Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions. It is expected that it will be attended by the heads of the major companies that have a mutual interest in enhancing economic interaction, bolstering industrial and agricultural ties, implementing educational projects.

The forum will also feature a series of youth, sports and cultural activities.

The organizers expect that, as in previous years, the forum will see businesses and regions conclude new commercial contracts and agreements that will promote trade and industrial cooperation. Mikhail Myasnikovich believes that this will be facilitated by the favorable situation on the markets of the two countries. It is expected that contracts worth at least $400 million will be signed during the forum.

On 17 January the Council of the Republic hosted a meeting of the organizing committee for the fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia under the chairmanship of Mikhail Myasnikovich. A session of the organizing committee jointly with Russian partners will be held in the near future.
