MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – The ministerial consultations on cooperation in the CIS in 2017 will take place in the CIS headquarters in Minsk on 2-3 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The participants of the consultations will discuss the role of the foreign political departments in the implementation of the CIS Heads of State Council’s decisions on the adjustment of the CIS to the present-day challenges and also talk over the draft plan of multi-level ministerial consultations for the ongoing year, the press service said.
Multi-level ministerial consultations have been regularly held in the CIS since 1995. It is an important instrument of political cooperation between the CIS member states. The consultations are aimed, first of all, at a wide exchange of information and opinions on the foreign political issues of current importance, regional and global policies of mutual interest. “The focus will be on meeting efficiently the interests of the CIS member states and coordinate possible joint steps,” the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.
The consultations also analyze matters that hamper the advancement of joint initiatives in international organizations, consider, if necessary, draft agendas for CIS Foreign Ministers Council. Meetings of the CIS advisory council of heads of consular services of foreign ministries are also held as ministerial consultations.
