Minsk to host international conference on economic integration, sustainable development

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will hold the international conference “Laying the foundation in the ENECE region for economic integration and sustainable development towards 2030” in Minsk on 26-27 October, Spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 20 October, BelTA has learned.

The event aims to promote the Integration of Integrations initiative voiced by the Belarusian President at the UN summit in 2015.

The workshop will focus on the search for new avenues of economic cooperation and the enhancement of the interaction of integration associations in the ENECE region. “The program of the conference will include four areas of focus. These are trade and standards, transport and infrastructure, energy sector and green economy, investments and innovations,” the spokesman said.

In his words, partaking in the forum will be more than 130 guests from ENECE regions, including the representatives of parliaments, ministries of foreign affairs, various integration associations and international organizations.

Besides, the Eurasian Commission of the EEU, the CIS will have a high-level representation. Minsk will also welcome the representatives of the OSCE, the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission, representatives of the Central European Initiative, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the United Nations Development Program.
