Minsk intends to bolster ties with China in tourism

MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) - Minsk intends to intensify cooperation with China in tourism. This matter was high on the agenda of a meeting in the Minsk City Hall on 8 December.

Proposals have been made to develop tour programs which would include a visit to the Belarusian capital alongside visits to European, Ukrainian and Russian cities, for example, Vilnius, Riga, Kiev, St.-Petersburg, Moscow. According to Minsk Deputy Mayor Andrei Domoratsky, the promotion of joint tours for Chinese groups was, in particular, considered during the talks with Latvian partners.

“This is a promising area, given the fact that there is a direct flight Minsk-Beijing,” he said.

Representatives of the hotel industry expressed their readiness to accommodate more guests from China. The talks were already held with Russian operators working in this direction. The Minsk Hotel was the first in Belarus to receive the China Friendly certificate confirming that the service meets the demands of tourists from China. Some hotels have started to offer the Chinese-language pages on their websites and to employ professionals with the knowledge of the Chinese language.

Proposals have also been made to take into account traditions, preferences of Chinese tourists and vacation periods when preparing tour packages.
