Minsk hosts Belarus-EU human rights dialogue

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Minsk hosted Human Rights Dialogue (HRD) between the Republic of Belarus and the European Union, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Belarus’ delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna. The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Interior Ministry, Justice Ministry, Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Central Election Commission of Belarus. The European Union was represented by experts of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Commission led by Managing Director of the EEAS for Europe and Central Asia Thomas Mayr-Harting.

The parties reviewed the whole rage of human rights issues, including legal framework of human rights protection. Special attention was paid to the rights of persons with disabilities, prevention of family violence, and cooperation within international organizations.

The next round of Belarus-EU HRD will be held in Brussels in 2017.
