MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can confirm that a meeting of aides to the Normandy Four heads of state will take place in Minsk on 6 April, BelTA learned from Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Yes, indeed, preparations for the meeting are in progress but reporters will not be able to access the event,” said Dmitry Mironchik.
On 5 April mass media quoted Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the President of Russia, as saying that consultations between aides to the heads of state of the Normandy Four countries (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France) will take place in Minsk on 6 April. According to Dmitry Peskov, during the meeting Russia will be represented by Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov.
Plans to arrange the meeting were revealed after President of Russia Vladimir Putin talked to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and France President Francois Hollande over the phone on 4 April. The leaders of the three countries agreed to continue contacts using the Normandy Four format.
