Medium-term development priorities for Belarus-Russia union determined

MOSCOW, 3 March (BelTA) – The Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia has determined development priorities of the Union State for the medium term through 2017. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement after the session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 3 March, BelTA has learned.

“We expect serious practical outcome from the decisions made during today’s session of the Supreme State Council,” said Vladimir Putin. “First of all, I mean the priority avenues and priority tasks concerning future development of the Union State in the medium term. We expect that their step-by-step implementation will allow creating new joint enterprises and jobs, will bolster the transport infrastructure of our countries”.

The prime ministers of Belarus and Russia signed an action plan of the governments of the two countries on 3 March. The action plan is designed to enable additional conditions for the development of trade and economic cooperation. According to Vladimir Putin, the action plan is in essence a joint anti-crisis plan meant to further enhance Belarusian-Russian economic integration.

The President of Russia said that participants of the session of the Supreme State Council had agreed to fill bilateral cooperation with new projects in the energy industry, automobile engineering, and electronics industry. “We will continue providing state support to programs in high-tech spheres,” stressed Vladimir Putin. “Nearly half of the assets of this year’s Union State budget that was adopted today will be spent on these goals”.
