Matviyenko compares attack on bus with children near Bryansk to actions of Nazis

Matviyenko compares attack on bus with children near Bryansk to actions of Nazis

MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) - The attack on a bus carrying children near Bryansk echoes Nazi atrocities, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko said during a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 25 June, BelTA has learned compared.

Valentina Matviyenko expressed words of sympathy and support in connection with the monstrous terrorist act committed against children from Belarus near Bryansk. “This is yet another crime by the Kiev regime,” she said.

Continuing the discussion, the speaker of the Federation Council drew parallels between this event and the actions of the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War.

Valentina Matviyenko said that during the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia a monument to Alexander Mamkin, the legendary pilot who became a national hero of both nations, will be unveiled in Minsk. He carried out numerous combat missions and later received an assignment to evacuate children from the Polotsk orphanage, whom the Nazis wanted to take to Germany and use as blood donors. He made several successful flights and, together with his comrades, evacuated 200 children. But on the last flight, when he was transporting the remaining 10 children to safety, the Nazis hit the plane. The pilot managed to land safely, and all the children survived, but he himself suffered severe burns and later died from his injuries.

“How the actions of the fascists of that time differ from those of today?” the Russian stateswoman asked rhetorically. “Today, the regime attacks a peaceful bus carrying children. This cannot be forgiven. This is a monstrous crime,” Valentina Matviyenko emphasized. She wished a speedy recovery to all the children injured in the attack.
