Lukashenko to pay working visits to Dushanbe, Sochi 15-18 September

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will take part in the session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Dushanbe on 15 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.

The agenda of the session includes more than 15 issues. In particular, the participants will discuss current activities of the CSTO, priorities of Armenia’s chairmanship in the organization. The meeting will also focus on the inspection of the readiness of military contingents of the CSTO collective rapid response forces, the organization of the CSTO collective forces command, the composition and deployment of collective air forces.

The heads of state will consider a draft agreement on cooperation of the CSTO member states in the transportation of military and other units, their movable assets and products for military use.

CSTO leaders will discuss a draft protocol on extending the validity of the agreement on the establishment of the joint system of technical protection of railways in the CSTO member states which dates back to 28 April 2003 and on introducing amendments to this agreement. They will also discuss amendments to the provision on the CSTO coordination council for emergencies as of 6 October 2007.

Apart from that, participants of the session of the Collective Security Council will consider the 2016 budget and revise the contributions of the CSTO member states in the financing of CSTO permanent bodies in 2016, redistribution of allocations for the CSTO Combined Staff in 2015.

The heads of state will also discuss a number of organizational issues.

After the CSTO session Alexander Lukashenko will pay a working visit to the Russian Federation where he will take part in the events of the 2nd Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions which will be held in Sochi on 17-18 September.

Participants of the forum will focus on the regional cooperation of Belarus and Russia in the manufacturing sector, development of the industrial policy from the technological and innovative perspectives, enhancement of industrial cooperation. There are plans to discuss the merger of financial and marketing capacities of the two countries, diversification of national economies, opening of new enterprises, development of the human capital.

It is expected that the plenary session will be attended by over 350 representatives of legislative and executive authorities of Belarus and Russia, regions, heads of big companies and business communities.
