Lukashenko, Sheiman discuss cooperation with Africa, development of Orsha District

Lukashenko, Sheiman discuss cooperation with Africa, development of Orsha DistrictMINSK, 31 August (BelTA) - The expansion of the Belarusian-African cooperation and the development of Orsha District were discussed at the working meeting of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko with Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Viktor Sheiman on 31 August, BelTA has learned.

The head of state asked Viktor Sheiman, who is monitoring Belarus’ cooperation with the African continent, how Belarus is developing relations with the countries of this region. In particular, the president asked about the progress in penetrating new markets and deepening cooperation with existing partners.

“We traditionally cooperate with Egypt. We have chosen Sudan in Central and Eastern Africa. We will rely on it to work in that part of the continent,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “We have agreed that you will pay attention to the southwest and south of Africa, and then put forward corresponding proposals. We should know on what countries we can rely, where we are needed.”

Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Viktor SheimanAlexander Lukashenko remarked that Belarus will not have enough opportunities to develop cooperation with the entire continent at the same time. Therefore, it is essential to choose the countries which can become a reliable foothold for Belarus in the African region.

Another issue on the agenda of the meeting was the state of affairs in Orsha District. “What is going on there? All government officials involved in that work will report to me in the near future,” the head of state said. It was remarked that Orsha District should be an example of development for other district capitals in Belarus.
