Lukashenko sets salary targets for Baranovichi District

BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – The average salary in Baranovichi District should make up at least Br1,000 by 1 September 2020, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with senior officials of the Baranovichi municipal and district administrations on 22 March, BelTA informs.

“Salaries in Baranovichi District should reach at least Br1,000 in a two-year period, to be precise, by 1 September next year,” the head of state said.

He noted that he meant sustainable and incremental increase in salaries, not some surge to be followed by a sharp drop. “This should be a solid Br1,000 by 1 September next year, because Baranovichi and Baranovichi District make a significant contribution to the increase in the average salary in the oblast and even in the country,” the Belarusian leader said.
 
According to the reports prepared for the meeting, the nominal gross average salary in Brest Oblast amounted to Br833.8. The list was topped by Brest (Br975) and Baranovichi (Br850) in January 2019. The average salary in Baranovichi District in January stood at Br767.1.

The head of state noted that the situation in Baranovichi is much better than in Orsha District that has recently been the focus of the government’s economic development initiatives. “You are not experiencing this kind of catastrophe. The manufacturing industry here is probably three times bigger than that in Orsha. I will meet with senior officials more than once. I have gathered top executives here to deliver my message directly to them, so that they will have a clear understanding of what I want from them and what I want to see in Baranovichi District. The same pertains to other big cities,” Alexander Lukashenko said.  

“Economy - agriculture, construction, manufacturing, transport - is at the heart of everything. Every enterprise should have a growth strategy based on upgrade and improvement of all processes, which will take them to a brand new level,” the Belarusian leader said.

The president also mentioned personnel matters and responsibility of local authorities. “Each executive should stay focused, be on game. They should feel their responsibility for their area of work,” the head of state said.
