Lukashenko sends National Day greetings to Ethiopia

MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko sent greetings to Ethiopia President Taye Atske Selassie and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Aliand as the country celebrates the national holiday - the Day of the Establishment of Peace and Democracy, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"The holiday symbolizes the victory of sovereignty and the aspiration for freedom of Ethiopians, whose courage and indomitable strength of spirit will be remembered by generations. Belarus attaches great importance to deepening relations with Ethiopia and shares similar views on topical issues and events in the international arena. Together our countries stand for the multipolar world and demonstrate the commitment to harmony, justice and sustainable development," the message to the Ethiopian president reads.

Aleksandr Lukashenko reiterated his interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in economy, education, culture and sport. "We have practical experience in implementing projects on the African continent and are ready to offer Ethiopian partners our competencies in mechanization of agriculture and food security, in mining, medicine, information technologies. I will be happy to meet with you in Minsk, Addis Ababa or on the sidelines of the events in the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement and BRICS to discuss in detail ways to deepen the Belarusian-Ethiopian ties," the head of state emphasized.

In his congratulatory message to the Ethiopian prime minister, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that today this country is firmly on course to strengthen its economy and plays an active role in regional and global processes.

"I have warm memories of our meeting during the BRICS summit in Kazan in October 2024 and I reaffirm the unwavering commitment to deepening bilateral interstate relations. I look forward to fruitful joint work to fulfill our agreements to promote cooperation in economy, trade, food security, and also in technological, humanitarian and other sectors that are essential for the social and economic development of both countries. I reiterate my interest in further communication with you and readiness to host a high-level Ethiopian delegation in Minsk at a time convenient for you," the message reads.
