MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko sent condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in connection with the earthquake in Izmir province, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“It was with great sorrow that people in Belarus learned the news about the devastating earthquake, which led to numerous loss of life and severe destruction in the Turkish province of Izmir,” the message of condolences said.
On behalf of the Belarusian people the head of state expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims, wished speedy recovery to the those injured and restoration of the settlements affected by the disaster.
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake rocked Izmir, Turkey's third largest city, on 30 October. 341 aftershocks were felt in the region after the earthquake. Twenty-five people were killed and more than 800 injured.
