Lukashenko outlines key requirements for constructing social facilities, housing

BREST, 30 July (BelTA) – During his working trip to Brest on 30 July, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined the requirements for building social facilities and housing, BelTA has learned.

The head of state heard a report from Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik on the region’s socio-economic development. The president was briefed on the state of agriculture, manufacturing, foreign economic activity, investment, and tourism.

Separately, the president spoke about the development of social infrastructure. First, the head of state stressed that a reasonable approach must be followed: such facilities should be built without excesses. Their priority is to be functional and convenient for people. One example is the National Educational and Wellness Center for Patriotic Education of Children and Youth, which is being built on the territory of the Kobrin fortification of the Brest Fortress. Two stages of construction have already been completed, and the third will be finished next year.

“There must be no palaces,” he said. At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that assistance should be provided to local authorities in constructing this facility. “The idea is good. We will definitely help with what we promised,” the president assured.

Aleksandr Lukashenko highlighted another requirement: under no circumstances should agricultural or forest land be affected during construction. “Not a single step on agricultural land or forested areas. There is plenty of land available: build housing there,” he emphasized.

“And try to build using your own construction trusts. We have powerful construction trusts, especially in Brest Oblast. Let them take land and build housing. And private companies that operate like trusts as well,” he stated.
