Lukashenko opines on qualities of good administrators

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Only motivated, passionate and highly-qualified people should be selected for administrator jobs, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he visited the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the Belarus President on 18 October, BelTA has learned.

“While selecting candidates for executive positions, it is necessary to look into their personality and values. We see how new corruption risks are emerging as the country is embracing new technology and incorporating it into the economic and social setting. In this regard, it is of paramount importance to select only motivated, passionate and highly-qualified candidates for executive roles. These people should want to serve the country and its people, rather than pursue their personal and career ambitions,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

According to the head of state, it is necessary to offer additional social and legal guarantees to administrators in order to increase the prestige of public service.

Rotation of executives is another important area of concern. Its major goal is not only to prevent nepotism and protectionism, the president added. “It is necessary to change a job and even a place of residence, to leave the comfort zone in order to grow professionally, broaden horizons, open up new talents and abilities. This way a person will not only grow professionally, but will also be more useful to the country,” he said.
