Lukashenko instructs to spruce up Mogilev by 2020

MOGILEV, 14 November (BelTA) – The landscaping of Mogilev should be completed by 2020, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during his working trip to Mogilev Oblast on 14 November, BelTA has learned.

The head of state was informed abut the fulfillment of his instructions to spruce up the city and improve the architectural planning of residential districts and major transport arteries of Mogilev. The President was also briefed on the development prospects of the oblast capital. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that there should be no delays in the implementation of the project. “Mogilev should become a very beautiful city by 2020. For example, Gomel and Grodno are beautiful cities, and there is nothing pretentious and extraordinary there. Mogilev is lagging behind, it is essential to spruce it up,” the President said. It is important to invest money in priority areas.

The head of state pointed out the need to look for investors who would sponsor construction projects. “The concept is good. But we need concrete investors,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The President was also informed about the progress in the renovation of the automobile bridge on the Dnieper River along Pushkinsky Anenue, the improvement of the river banks, construction of an underground walkway with a photo gallery illustrating the architectural history of Mogilev. The bridge is decorated with four bronze lions on granite pedestals. From the direction of Chelyuskintsev Street the bridge is decorated with two granite steles. The transport junction is located near the Glory Square offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the left bank of the Dnieper River.

The foundation of the Trinity Church was unveiled in the process of the renovation of the Pushkinsky Avenue. Given it was an important archeological finding, the territory around the foundation was cleaned up, and the works in the vicinity of the foundation of the church were stopped.

The underground walkway near the Chelyuskintsev Street is equipped with an elevator for the people with disabilities.
