Lukashenko extends birthday greetings to Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov

MOSCOW, 22 October (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko conveyed greetings and a present from Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, People’s Artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Nikita Mikhalkov on the occasion of his 70th birthday, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy.

“Everyone in our country and far beyond its borders knows you as an outstanding actor and director. You have created many works recognized as world cinema classics. Each premiere of your films is a long-awaited and spectacular event for all cinema lovers,” the letter of greetings reads.

For his part, Nikita Mikhalkov congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on re-election as Belarus President. He also accepted the invitation of Igor Petrishenko to visit the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow.
