Lukashenko: DOSAAF is a link between civil society and military organizations

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – The Voluntary Association for Assistance to Army, Aviation and Navy (DOSAAF) is a link between civil society and military organizations, reads a message of greetings from Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of DOSAAF. Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council Mikhail Puzikov read out the message at the DOSAAF official meeting on 28 February, BelTA has learned.

“Today DOSAAF teaches the youth some military skills, to be responsible for the homeland and its security and learn from the example of older generations,” reads the message.

According to the head of state, DOSAAF makes a significant contribution to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, training of high-class professionals who hold leading positions in the world in technical, aviation and military-applied kinds of sports. “I am confident that DOSAAF will continue to fulfill its tasks to train citizens for work and defense,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The President noted that during its almost 100-year history OSOAVIAKhIM-DOSAAF has trained hundreds of thousands of boys and girls who have written many memorable pages in the history of the organization. Students of the Belarusian flying clubs and training centers heroically fought against the Nazi invaders, cleared the liberated territories from mines, helped restore the war-destroyed national economy, and paved the way for the space age.

The official meeting to mark the 90th anniversary of Belarus DOSAAF took place in Minsk on 28 February. It was attended by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov, representatives of several public associations, defense societies from the CIS countries.
