BARANOVICHI DISTRICT, 11 September (BelTA) – The combat readiness of the troops will continue to be tested. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in front of reporters as he visited the combined-arms military training area Obuz-Lesnovsky, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko was asked whether instructions had been given to test the entire defense, security, and law enforcement system taking into account the fact that a massive inspection of the Armed Forces took place at the beginning of the year and a campaign to inspect the Internal Troops of the Internal Affairs Ministry is in progress right now.
The head of state said: “I’ve already said in plain terms: the army needs to be shaken up, now is the time. The entire army. We will test everyone. Up to mobilization.”
As an example the president mentioned that an artillery brigade is now being tested upon his instructions and tank units and motorized infantry units had been tested before that. “We are doing everything the way it will happen during a war,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. He remarked that the experience of modern military conflicts is used to organize such tests.
“We are getting ready for war in order to prevent one,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
“This is why all the Armed Forces will be tested. Today we are inspecting signal troops, artillery. Yesterday we inspected motorized infantry units. We’ve tested the Internal Troops of the Internal Affairs Ministry. We test them depending on their functions. As a peculiarity we do it without all kinds of showing off. I cannot tolerate it. Showing off is lying. It means that [if we rely on showing off] we will lose people in a combat situation. We’ll take it as it is. Everything should be done as if in a firefight. This is the way to train our troops. These are lessons of [Russia’s] special military operation [in Ukraine]. This is why we will shake up the entirety of the Armed Forces,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
