Lukashenko calls on Russia and Turkey to settle for compromise

ASHGABAT, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko called upon Russia and Turkey to meet each other halfway and settle for a compromise. The Belarusian head of state made the statement as he spoke at the international conference “Neutrality Policy: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development” in Ashgabat on 12 December, BelTA learned.

“It is necessary to prevent the building up of any further tensions and find the way to make at least half a step toward each other. The problem will be settled then. Those good and close relations that these nations and states once enjoyed will be restored,” said the head of state.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, everything is interrelated in this world. “If a war sparks in one part of the world, its aftershocks will be felt in the other. If we made mistakes somewhere, we need to know how to admit them and, as the President of Uzbekistan said, after acknowledging them to find the strength to make concessions and settle for a compromise in order to rectify the situation,” stressed the President of Belarus.

“Mistakes in today’s turbulent world are inevitable. They should be addressed, not aggravated. It also true about the recent conflict between our Russia and our friendly Turkey,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
