Lukashenko calls for reinforced protection of Belarus’ southern border amid tense situation

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) - The situation on Belarus’ southern state border remains tense, and it must continue to be guarded with enhanced security measures, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said while hearing a report on proposals to adjust the plan for the construction and development of the Armed Forces for 2026-2030, BelTA has learned.

“The southern border, 1,500 kilometers (you know this, our military is stationed there), is burning like never before. This is the answer to some military personnel who ask whether we need to protect the southern border in reinforced mode or not. Here is the answer: we do. We are military people, and the nation feeds us so that we can protect them,” the head of state emphasized.
