Lukashenko: Belarusians are proud of friendship with heroic Cuban people

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko sent greetings to Cuban President Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Raul Castro Ruz as the country celebrated the Day of the Revolution on 26 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.

“The unwavering will and commitment to freedom of citizens of the Republic of Cuba, firm determination to defend their own path of development inspire millions of people around the world. I assure you that on this difficult path Belarus will always be a reliable ally for the Cuban people. Together, we can defend the principles of multi-polar world order, humanism and equality on the international stage more effectively,” reads the message of greetings to President Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez.

The Belarusian head of state noted that the bilateral cooperation has been productive. “I am convinced that together we will be able to fully realize the potential of Belarusian-Cuban cooperation in all areas of mutual interest," the president stressed.

In a message to Raul Casto Ruz, Aleksandr Lukashenko praised the level of cooperation between the two countries and called Havana one of the most important strategic partners of Minsk. “Belarusians are proud of their friendship with the heroic Cuban people, who remain true to their ideals and principles, tirelessly work for the benefit of the Motherland and the protection of its sovereignty. At this difficult time for the world, the Republic of Cuba has set an example of true international solidarity by sending medical professionals to fight the COVID-19 pandemic to the most affected countries,” the message said.
