Lukashenko: Belarus and Myanmar will seize on opportunities to deepen relations

Lukashenko: Belarus and Myanmar will seize on opportunities to deepen relations

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) - Belarus and Myanmar will take advantage of the opportunities and deepen their relations, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media following his talks with Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing in Minsk on 7 March, BelTA has learned.

Accepting the proposal from the head of Myanmar to send a Belarusian delegation to observe the upcoming elections in the country, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized: “We will send our observers to monitor the election campaign in your country. I wish to advise you something: do everything that is beneficial for your country. Of course, there will be someone who will not like the things you do. There will also be sanctions, which both of us face.”

“Sanctions, however, are a time of opportunity. We have agreed to take advantage of these opportunities and deepen relations between our states. And we will do it,” the head of state said.

Min Aung Hlaing supported Aleksandr Lukashenko’s opinion: “It is true that sanctions are an opportunity. Countries unite and can produce a powerful response to the countries that have imposed sanctions. They think that if they use pressure in the form of sanctions, they will get results, but it is not true. It only leads to conflicts.”
