Lukashenko approves appointment of new deputy healthcare and culture ministers

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of new deputy ministers of healthcare and culture, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of Yelena Bogdan to the post of deputy healthcare minister. She has so far worked in the ministry as the head of the main department of medical care, examination, appeals of citizens and legal entities.

Valery Gromada will take up the vacant position of deputy culture minister.

The head of state also approved the appointment of Dmitry Strazdin, former chief physician of the Republican Clinical Hospital of Medical Rehabilitation, the general director of Belmedtekhnika company.

The president urged the new head of the company to focus on pricing for imported medicines and medical equipment. "Pricing is the number one issue. Please, pay attention to this," the head of the state stressed.

He warned that the activities of the director of Belmedtekhnika company will be constantly under the president's attention. The new director will probably face difficulties in his work. "You are going to be under pressure. As soon as you take a hard line and step on toes of those who worked on preferential terms to import medical equipment, under reduced prices, will be criticizing you for doing things wrong. If you choose other suppliers who will work with us on more attractive terms, you will also be criticized by those who will step aside," Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president hailed Dmitry Strazdin's management experience and expressed hope that this will help him to deal with problems in the new post. "You know what the country needs. Pricing is a simple issue now. All companies are on the internet. You google, find a company, make a deal, lower the price and buy things you need, which the Healthcare Ministry is now doing," the head of the state added.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also addressed Aleksandr Subbotin, who was appointed aide to the president - inspector for Mogilev Oblast. The head of the state commended the positive results of his work in his previous post as a member of the board for industrial and agro-industrial complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). "You are a well-educated and professional person. I would like you to take a closer look at the processes in agricultural industry. You will find this useful in the future," the president said.

New approaches and joint actions with the region's government hold great promise for the economic development, Aleksandr Subbotin told the media. "We cannot stand still. We must constantly move forward, promote our services and products to other countries in order to be successful and earn money for the country and the region,” he added.
